We've recently had a horrible customer experience with Levitz furniture. We bought a couch (sofa), and two chairs through them. They are beautiful Italian leather and will fit perfectly in our living room. Holly can't wait to have them arrive, but that's not going to happen any time soon!

Here are the couches. Interesting that they are having a "special sale" until 12/25/06 on them. I noticed on their website that it says nothing about them not arriving until next spring.

At first they told us that all of the furniture was in stock (we wanted it for Christmas and ordered it in the end of October). Then after we paid they told us that it would be a short wait (though they said we had to pay right then). Then, a few days later we got a message on our machine saying that it wouldn't be arriving until the middle of February! They said, if you have any trouble with this please call us and left a number, so we did. They said, "Why are you calling this number?" "We can't do anything about this." They were really rude on the phone (the call ended up being to some call center in New York or New Jersey). When I asked to speak to the manager the lady basically just slammed me then told me to call my local store, that they could and would do nothing about it.

So I called the local store where we had bought the couch. I figured, that they could sell us the floor model since they wouldn't be needing it until February. If that didn't work, I figured I should at least get my money back until the couches were in hand. That way I'm not giving them an interest free loan for 4 months!

When I called they put me on hold for 10 minutes. I asked for the manager, another 10 minute wait, then when the manager got on the line I told her my concern and asked about the floor model, or at least for my money back. She told me that she wasn't the manager who could do anything and put me on hold again. After a while more she came back and said the manager was busy, that they would figure out what they could do and call me right back.

A WEEK later, with no calls, Holly called back and they told her that they wouldn't sell us the floor model because they were selling too many sets of that particular couch set, and that they wouldn't give us our money back! So basically, they know they can't get any couches in, yet continue to take peoples money and then be rude to them when they ask about it! I've never been treated so poorly by any store in my life and definitely not for a multi-thousand dollar purchase.

I would definitely never buy through them again, nor would I recommend that anyone else do so as well.
